The Movie Tsunami

I begin my first ever blog with an interesting chain of events in my life in the last month or so.I happen to be a diehard fan of Hardcore Indian masala movies. My exposure to English films is extremely low.I have enjoyed all trash doled out in the name of "Mainstream Indian Cinema".But of late stars here are taking the audience for granted.Somewhere down the line I started getting tired of mediocre stuff. Then started the tsunami of good movies.I watched a barrage of high quality stuff(both new and old ones)which left me gasping for more. Here goes the list:
1)BLACK - Absolutely brilliant.Gooseflesh inducing stuff.AB and Rani leading the way.
2)RAINCOAT-Very good. Not exceptional. But great performances and a simple story (Based on 'Gift Of the Maggi')well told.
3)LOTR3-Need i say anything.Watched it a long time after the first two parts. It is sheer vision, human creativity at it's best and impeccable execution.
4)MACKENNA'S GOLD-Wow.Fantastic timepass.Definition for how a Hero and a Villian have to be.
5)SCENT OF A WOMAN-This one's just for Al Pacino's attitude.2nd half a bit of a letdown but even then makes for great viewing.
6)UDHAYANAANU THAARAM-The best mallu hit of all time. The mother of all satires.Great humour, great script writing and probably the best climax of all time. Do i need to discuss Mohanlal.
7)PAGE3-A novel concept.1st half a bit slow but good performances by all.
8)MEMENTO-Undoubtedly one of the best I have ever seen.God what a plot. This movie is addictive.
In The Pipeline:Silence of the Lambs,Fight Club,Roman Holiday,Casablanca,Showshank Redemption,The Terminal.
Shit stuff I sacrificed for this:Tiruppachi,Ji,Sukran,Devadhaiya Kandaen.
I cannot possibly complain.

Welcome to the world of blogging. I see you have chosen a topic you are "very familiar" to write your first blog about.
You know my take on the movies. But I am glad to note that you are finally getting down to seeing better movies. There is a whole big library of good movies to keep you occupied, all your life !

I suggest a few more classics to add to your list: The Shop Around The Corner (its the original of You've Got Mail and countless other copies/remakes/adaptations), Philadelphia Story, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Its a Wonderful Life.

That is the privilege we give to thalaivar. He is THE ONE.No matter coupla bad movies here and there.I remember shelling out Rs.200 for 'Baba' first day first show and I liked it in that atmosphere.
